CUCF Daggett Release Role

Central Utah Correctional Facility is an operating UDC prison in Gunnison, outside Daggett County. It may house a person sentenced from a Daggett criminal case. The person’s court origin does not turn CUCF into a Daggett facility, and the closed former county jail has no role in the state-prison release. UDC remains the custodian of the incarceration and release record.

Utah also uses contracted county capacity, but UDC’s current booklet lists Daggett with no contracted or available state beds. A Daggett defendant sentenced to state prison therefore follows the statewide correctional path. The UDC public search can identify the current housing facility for a person still within its scope. Board decisions provide parole or release authority, while the Daggett court file preserves the sentence and later court orders.

CUCF Release Processing Path

UDC’s release-day instructions say people housed at CUCF generally participate in release processing at Utah State Correctional Facility. Almost everyone releases through USCF, and direct county-jail releases are extremely rare. Thus, the last housing entry and the physical release location may differ. Do not assume that a listed CUCF resident walks out through a CUCF gate on the displayed date.

State releases and paroles are processed on Tuesdays under the published UDC procedure. Pickup parties report to the USCF Release building, not to Daggett County. UDC advises that processing can take one to four hours. It limits pickup to two people and one vehicle and bars children under eighteen and pets other than service animals. Those statewide facts can help plan a confirmed release, but they do not establish that a specific person was released.

Search CUCF Release Status

The UDC Offender Search is the correct public locator for this state-prison track. Search by UDC number when known or by name. Name searches require at least one letter in both first and last name, with middle name optional. Compare the date of birth and offender number before selecting a result. The detail record can show location, housing facility, the exact field “Release Date/Type,” and case-manager information.

1. Open the official UDC search and use the UDC offender number or the full known name.
2. Match identifying details before opening a same-name record.
3. Check whether location or housing facility identifies CUCF.
4. Record “Release Date/Type” without changing the agency’s label.
5. Compare the Utah Board decision and VINE status, then contact UDC if they conflict.

The system only covers people currently incarcerated by UDC or now under UDC probation or parole. It excludes unsentenced county detainees. A person fully discharged from state authority may no longer appear. No-result is therefore not proof of release, and a Daggett county-jail roster would be the wrong substitute. CUCF Release Types Explained

A prison “release” can have more than one destination. Parole ends confinement while the person remains under Board authority and UDC Adult Probation and Parole supervision. CUCF Release Date Changes

“Release Date/Type” is the UDC public label. It should not be reported as a guaranteed exit date. Utah state sentences are generally indeterminate. The trial court imposes a sentence within statutory bounds, and the Board decides release within its authority. A scheduled hearing date merely identifies a hearing. Even a Board decision should be paired with the actual UDC release event.

A displayed date can change after a new Board order, approved earned time, earned-time forfeiture, an unmet treatment or placement condition, rescission, new sentence aggregation, a warrant or violation, or corrected credit data. Utah does not have a universal rule that every state prisoner serves 85 percent. Earned time under state law is Board controlled and tied to specified approved programs. It cannot be computed from the conviction alone.

Request CUCF Release Records

UDC is the correct custodian for a CUCF incarceration and release record. A focused request should ask for the offender’s actual release or discharge date, the release type, the processing facility, and the destination category or supervision status when public. If the public search profile has disappeared after full discharge, say that an archival response is needed rather than asking only for current status.

The Board maintains its own hearing and decision material. Request or search that decision separately when the legal basis for parole is needed. The Daggett court clerk supplies the originating criminal case, including judgment and sentence, but not UDC’s physical exit log. VINE is a useful notice source, not an archival record. Separate requests keep each agency tied to the fact it created.

The research identifies CUCF as the Gunnison state prison but does not provide a sourced street address or CUCF-specific public release line. Those details should not be invented. Confirm a CUCF Release

Strong verification pairs legal authority with a custody event. Compare the UDC “Release Date/Type” field to the Board decision. Then confirm the actual release or transport through UDC or a VINE event. If the person paroled, AP&P Region 6 in Vernal serves Daggett and Uintah Counties. The UDC profile may remain available during that current supervision.

A current Daggett arrest takes a different path. Call the Sheriff to identify the receiving jail. A federal sentence belongs in BOP records, and an ICE transfer belongs in the ICE locator and agency contacts. CUCF should be used only for the state-prison track. Mixing these sources can turn a transfer into a false claim of release or make a fully discharged person look unverified merely because a current locator no longer lists them.
